Breathing new life into old favourites

The very first Skinny laMinx print collection was called Sevilla Rock. Although I put it into production on running metres in 2009, in fact, it was my very first attempt at fabric design, and it turned out rather well. The idea behind the collection was that I used beautiful rock paintings from the Cederberg mountains (recorded by my friend, Peter Slingsby) and combined them with my love of simple, clear Scandi design. Some of the Sevilla Rock Collection has been discontinued, but the Herds and Duikers designs have been consistently popular, both in red and grey colourways. This year, we thought we’d breathe some fresh life into Herds and Duikers by re-issuing these prints in a strong, graphic black colourway.

When we opened our shop, local design duo Pedersen + Lennard designed a special shelving system just for us, called the Skinny Shelf, which we still use in the shop, and two years later, in the spirit of cross-pollinating in this World Design Capital year, we thought it would be great to work with them again.

Recently, Pedersen + Lennard designed with a new wood-frame, loose-cushion sofa design called The Skagen Settle that we agreed would be the perfect canvas for our refreshed Duiker print. We love it on the lampshade, too!

The truly iconic Pedersen + Lennard design has to be their witty Bucket Stool, and we love the way our print works here, too, especially with the yellow.

We’ll be selling Buckets Stools and Skagen armchairs with Herds and Duikers prints in our shop, and from the Pedersen + Lennard showroom at the Woodstock Exchange too.
